As a team leader of the Shenzhen Global Commodity Management Team, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design, build and deliver innovative consumer products. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
The Role:
The Manager of the GCM Team in China will lead all mechanical sourcing activity for the Shenzhen team. This person will partner with both the Advance Development team and the Mechanical Sourcing Managers to drive delivery for all mechanical parts.
· Lead the mechanical commodity team in the Shenzhen office
· Manage all daily activities of mechanical GCM team concerning
o Continuity of supply
o Price – Cost reduction
o Quality Resolution
o Supplier Management and Development
· Point of contact for all escalations for all mechanical issues from China team - Global Commodity Managers
· Assist in supplier selection by working with Global Commodity Manager, Product Development, and Engineering teams on programs
· Drive readiness reviews for all EVT(Engineering Verification Testing) and mass production builds for programs
· Work cross functionally with SQMs, EPM, MPM, and OPMs on programs and issue resolution
· Assist the MSMs on all product development on investigations from cost and supplier standpoint with Global Commodity Managers
· Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service and technology.
· Responsible of all Amazon personnel management functions such as individual contributor focal reviews and work with HR to resolve all personnel issues
· Responsible for individual training of GCMs in regards to negotiation techniques and supplier management issues
· Manage the team/GCMs to conduct QBRs with all key suppliers
· Responsible for quarterly executive business review meetings with Executive Management level of all key suppliers
· Responsible for driving Supplier Development Programs for all key technologies and suppliers
· Responsible for managing all key mechanical suppliers to the highest level of ethics and insuring that our supplier base meets all key Amazon Tenants
· Maintain personal knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscape
Basic Qualifications:
· 8-10years of experience managing cross-functional projects and programs with tight deadlines
· 8-10 years of experience in commodity management, supply chain, logistics or manufacturing for a hardware device company.
· 5-10 years of Managing direct reports of Supply Chain, Procurement or Commodity Management personnel
· Bachelor’s Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field
· Experience in high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environment.
· 8-10 years experience working with mechanical commodities such as plastic metal and tooling
Preferred Qualifications:
· Familiarity with world-class sourcing methods and tools.
· Extensive negotiation experience of large or multi-year supply agreements with global suppliers with a proven track record in cost reduction.
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
· Ability to be innovative in issues related to strategic sourcing, vendor relations, quality assurance and the associated measurement systems.
· Strong analytical skills (i.e. cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier selection).
· Expertise in the use of Microsoft Outlook / Access required.
